Staying with us you have a rare chance to step outside of life’s demanding routine, get back in touch with yourself and revitalize your life in a truly holistic way. Qayaam Gah has the perfect ambience for relaxation. Natural surroundings, solitude, a deep meditation, these can all be a source of great nourishment to the soul.
The Kashmir Valley has long been a place associated with the saints and seers of Sufism, as well as hosting a vibrant tradition of Kashmiri Shaivism stemming from the teachings of the influential 10th century philosopher, musician and poet Abhinavagupta. To honour this tradition and encourage its continuance into the restless and strained conditions of modern life, Qayaam Gah is delighted to offer its guests a programme of Yoga and Fitness Retreats to decrease their stress and expand their mental and physical horizons.
These retreats run for between 7 and 10 days, and can be booked on an exclusive basis. They include instruction in yoga, techniques of deep relaxation and toning nature walks, all under the supervision of our in-house Yoga Teacher.
Throughout the retreat, bespoke meals, using only locally organic foodstuffs, fresh cow’s milk and water sourced from a natural spring, will be served, and each guest will leave the retreat with a tailored dietary programme to implement in their home setting.
All our wellness programmes take place in a context of personal attention and privacy, with the aim of revealing a sense of joy and discovery at the heart of existence, so that our ongoing life journey becomes an unfolding of potential and happiness.
It is now widely recognised that Yoga is, at the least, an indispensable aid to good health and we are happy to have secured the services of a renowned and experienced yoga teacher, Mr. Jay Das, to run our wellness programme.
Jay spent several enriching years in the field of yoga, teaching yoga in India and Indonesia. He holds a bachelor's degree in Yogashastra (yoga philosophy) from Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavala, and a master's degree in Yogic Science from Kavikuluguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Nagpur. Additionally, He has completed a 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training course.
a) Beginners Classes every morning from 7.30 – 815 am. These are complimentary.
b) More Advanced Classes for those already practiced in yoga. These are on a one-to-one basis or, when desired, in very small groups of two or three maximum. These classes can be arranged at whatever times suit the guests throughout the day.
c) Yoga Therapy sessions designed for the client’s specific needs. These include curative and preventative yoga techniques in tandem with a nutrition and dietary programme specified for the individual.
All classes take place in the Qalb or ‘Spiritual Heart’, an area offering soulful views of the rolling meadows, surrounding mountains and the mellow calm Dal lake below.
This programme includes 45 min of yoga followed by a hike through cherry and apple orchids, where you can enjoy the beauties of nature, mountain views and Himalayan birdlife or even the occasional sight of the reclusive Himalayan black bear. Avail yourself of Nature’s healing regime of fresh mountain air and sensory nourishment, while improving strength, stamina and muscle tone with a personalised fitness program. Healthy food and drink will also be provided in this programme.
